Diffractive lens

Diffractive lenses are used to focus monochromatic light (often laser light). A diffractive lens consists of a series of radial rings or "zones" of decreasing width. The structure focuses light because rays hitting the outer zones of the lens are deviated more than rays hitting in the centre. Light of different wavelengths will be deviated by different amounts so different colours are focused at different distances behind the lens.
A diffractive lens consists of a set of radially symmetric rings, known as Fresnel zones. The diffracted light constructively interferes at the desired focus, creating an image there.

Collimated Beam Shaper/Top-Hat

For applications that require a well-defined or top-hat beam over an extended working distance range, we offer our Collimated beam shaper/ Top-Hat Lens. These lenses are especially designed so beam output maintains a constant diameter and top-hat profile from lens and over a long range of propagation. The magnitude of this dynamic range depends on several factors such as wavelength, input beam size and output beam size.

Spectral dispersion of focal plane

In applications requiring multi-spectral focal dispersion, Holo/Or offers a flexible and compact diffractive solution. A refractive lens alone has a small dispersive component, due to slight spectral dependence of the lens material's optical index. As a result, the spectral foci are discreet but very close to one another. A diffractive surface is the neat, easy and effective solution for "stretching out" or expanding the inter-focal distance between two or more spectral foci.

On the other hand, a diffractive surface is also the easy and effective solution for combining the foci of assorted wavelengths to a single focal point.
